Unhappy Which Air intake to get...

Hi guys,

I'm planning soon to get an Air Intake, but I'm a bit confused. I have looked at short rams and long rams and I know a long ram will give more gain like:

injen
stillen gen3
takeda

Short rams as well:

takeda
stillen gen2
R2C

I'm not sure what suites my situation, but let me just tell you what I want and maybe someone can decide the best Air Intake for me.

First of all my car is a daily drive and I have Seibon TS Hood installed. I'm looking for an Air Intake that's not noisy and i don't want to be noticed from a long distence having a noisy engine.. That's ain't my style at all. Also the thing is the holes on the hood will for sure allow water to go in my engine bay and it might damage the something while it's raining if i install a short ram. If i install a long ram I have seen stillen gen3 and takeda as well which goes into the grill and I know both have water protection covers, But are the protection good enough to stop rain storm water from getting in?

I want something safe where I keep the car in a good condition. I don't want any water to spoil the engine or the filters and I don't want to cut through things in the engine bay or do something to make a change. I don't want it to be noisy and I don't want the car to give me any messages like check engine or what ever messages it's going to display.

Can someone define a good filter for my situation? with telling me why is did you choose this air intake for me.

Thanks in advance guys

I don't recommend injen for my car cause when it's raining the roads gets filled with water which i think would damage the filters cause they are placed down at the bottom of the car. Even though I wanted injen filters which gives a very good gain..

I've had my gen3 for a year and no problem and I've been to some heavy Rain

If you dont want to cut then just go with R2C

if you dont want noise, dont do the r2c haha. they roar when you step on it. i guess during normal driving it sounds stock, but i cant even hear my exhaust when i really get in the pedal

Some people here are posting without reading.

Okay another question.

Does Injen Intake go to the grill or to the lower part of the bumper on the G37 Coupe? Do they have rain protection?

How many times I should be cleaning the filter or replace the heads?

I appreciate your offer, but I don't buy 2nd hand stuff, specially upgrade or tuning parts.

Thanks

I might get Takeda or Injen as a final decision.

If you're talking about a Injen CAI.. I got one on my car.. It does have rain protection, as long as you don't go through a 12" deep water with a fast speed..

Im curious to see why you would select Takeda or Injen over the Stillen Gen 3? I dont have any of them and seems to me the Gen 3s are the best out there... I might be missing something which is why I am asking.

well, I have been reading a lot today about these intakes and how to keep them clean out of dust and rain (water)

lets start it this way, First I'll talk about Injen Cold Air Intake: it's a great air intake and it's one of the best selling for the G37 cause lots of people who owns this car install Injen over the other brands. Anyway, Injen provides filters protection, but the position of them is bad in my opinion cause if you go about 12inches in water they are most likely to damage the filters and the engine.

Takeda Cold Air Intake (Long Tube): is very good, but what i discovred today is that it's a bit heavier than the other intakes. It weights 20lbs while the other are less.

Stillen 3gen: As you all said is the best. I think I'm getting a new one cause it weights less by 10lbs only and it has protection against rain (water) also i can buy any after market dust protection fr the filter to prevent it from getting dusty and it doesn't make it loss any power with the dust protection.

Also I'm reading about BMC Italian Filter I wanna know how good it is...
