im stuck between these two!

im not a fan of cutting holes for the gen 3 but i see its the most popular, ive had a short ram from k&n and i loved it.. opinions?

 

Because our stock air intakes are already pretty good, the only way you'll get feel-able gains in with a full CAI. The short rams will add little power and some sound, but that's it, really. In the mid-high range is where you might feel it. If you don't wanna cut holes for the Gen. 3's, then try and go with the Takeda CAI, because it fits right on. Although to get the full story with a CAI, you'll need a tune, especially if you have any other mods.

no you dont. and the INJEN CAI is cheaper then stillen and you dont have to cut holes.. i like my injen

sounds good, i went with K&N and Soliditude, your right man, it added some power, but i dont even hear the intake till about 4k rpm.. should have gone with stillen.. man.

BUT on the Gen 3, what about the possibility of a hydro lock? i mean.. the filters sit right behind the grill?

 

I had an Injen CAI on my '03 Toyota Matrix that sits lower than the one for the G's/Z's. That CAI I got by with in 4' snow, and 8' flooding. These CAI's sit mid-grill. Unless you are driving through a small lake/creek, there is no way you're going to hydro lock with this.

I'm planning on getting one of these first thing in the spring next year!

 

Gen 3's are worth it, the Holes you cut are not that bad.. Worth every penny.

gen3 FTW. If you're looking that much into K&N, atleast go R2C

 

Thanks @$$, real friendly... The comparison was simply the design of the intake, and my experience with CAI's, not comparing the vehicles. Obviously the vehicles are not in the same league, but the components and theory are.

 

So question was the toyota matrix faster than your G since you had the intake???? Is just funny how everytime someone post something there is allways one scientist that compares whatever he had on something completly diffrent...Bro the intake on your matrix or yaris whatever you had has nothing with the desighn of our cars... im just saying..Dont get all sensitive now....Its ok...
