Okay, so I found a Megan racing y-pipe for G35/350z. I assume that will fit our 07+ sedans??? And how will that sound with the Tanabe axlebacks? I'v got them now but its so dang quiet.... I want just a little bit more noise.

Anyone got any recommendations? how will a y pipe sound?

 

does it have resinators on it? or does it just bolt to the other side of the ypipe? i would to High flow cats before the ypipe if you want a little more sound. you will get better gains that way too

 

I'm pretty sure the Y-pipe is the same for all the Rwd Z's and G's. Tanabe replacement Y-pipes all have the same part number for models dating back to 03. While the OEM does look restrictive I don't know if replacing it will change the sound much since the mid-pipe resonators would still be in the mix. Too bad Tanabe doesn't offer a complete cat-back solution for the sedan.

 

You should pick up the Tanabe Y-pipe listed in the marketplace right now. Should compliment your Tanabe axle-back perfectly!

I would think so. I am sure that would free up your exhaust some more. The stock y-pipe is puny.

 

I heard from a couple people who got Y-Pipes that it made no difference.

 

I had a Tanabe Y-pipe on my '04 coupe. It made no noticeable exhaust sound difference.

 

Did you feel anything power wise? I'm debating whether to put y pipe and test pipes or stick only to test pipes.

 

I really don't recall feeling any noticable change in power... not that I would really expect that from just changing a y-pipe. However, the Tanabe y-pipe for my '04 coupe was definitely an improvment over the OE one. Its clearly much less restrictive than the OE y-pipe and gives a smoother exhaust flow.
