Takeda Dyno

For those that have been following along, today's run was much better. Conditions from the baseline day and the runs today were much closer - today was still a bit hotter and the density altitude a bit higher, but all in all a good close comparison; same dyno, same blower etc. I felt good about the setup.

I did 7 runs - on the sheet below are the "median" runs from the stock intake vs. the Takeda. These are the best "representative" samples of data, and rather than clutter up the graph I decided not to print all of them. Using those runs the peak numbers for Takeda were:

Max Power = +9.79 whp / +7.76 ftlb.

When I selected data points along each curve (hp and torque) there were some nice areas of differential gain. Most of the hp gain was in the top end when compared to stock; whereas the torque gains were often as high as 11.5 ftlb over stock in the "daily driving" range between 4K and 5.5K RPM.

Had I used the lowest stock run vs the highest Takeda run the numbers were slightly better:

Max Power = +12 whp / +9 ftlb

Athough I'm sure Takeda/Stillen would post 'em that way, I'm not trying to sell you an intake and therefore statistically, didn't feel like it was the best sample.

Air/Fuel look's good as well - still a bit rich even.

On a sidenote, there was a bolted 350z that put down 242 whp just before I got on and ran my 290 whp ... he wasn't too happy about that.

So some good runs and some good numbers - about what my butt dyno expected to see, +10whp and really, the +11ftlb I feel when I rip into it along the on-ramps and between stoplights.

Looking forward to more dyno results from others. I'll be back on in a couple of weeks after some Berks HFC's and will post new sheets after install and then after tune.

What all mods do you have on your car? I only ask because your AF is sooo different than mine used to be on my '08 coupe. You get super rich under acceleration stock, and then the intakes leaned you out a bit to around 12. Why does the high hp run start at 18 though? Thats crazy!

On all my dyno's I did on my '08 I never dropped so rich under acceleration, even stock. I've honestly never seen any G drop into the 10's before, that shocked me.

^^^ Not when it comes to HP per dollar, seeing as these are much cheaper.

Not sure - but I think I like it that way. The ARK and now Takeda are my only power mods. The shop owner said today he thought with these mods I could still get a easy 15 whp from a tune. Will be interesting to see what I get after the Berk install. Hopefully it's still rich and I can tune the hell out of it.

As far as the high start on AF, when I pointed that out he said it does that sometimes depending on when he hits the button to start the run ??? The other runs weren't as crazy looking.

This intake has only been out about 2 weeks ... maybe you're confusing it with another?

Seems on par with the Stillen dyno's I've seen on here. I had a total gain of +12 (if that's how you want to read it) and most seem to be getting roughly the same with Stillen. I wanted to compare the midrange torque bump with the Stillen, but couldn't find a good before and after sheet.

AZ is right about the HP/$ too - especially when you add in the cost of the tool to enlarge the core support for the Stillen - you're looking at $600+.
