Test Pipes - how long before a tune? Price?

Hello,

Quick inquiry: I know quite a few people have been running various brand test pipes, but after doing a little bit more digging, it seems that the majority of users (mainly Z guys) needed new plugs prior to tuning - running too lean, for too long. Input from those that've been running test pipes without a tune? Advise on how long I can run test pipes (with intake and exhaust - no headers) prior to destroying my plugs? I'd tune right away...but $850 for a reflash + dyno tune isn't relatively cheap!

FI Non-resonated pipes should be here Wednesday itching to install...but not at the cost of my plugs (bummer)!

While on the topic...can those who've tuned share prices for a "full" osiris tune? I'm not too savvy on the tuning topic, but I'm assuming it includes a reflash, dyno tuning, maps, a/f adjustment, license, etc..

Thanks,
Eric

I have a guy down here in florida that does tunning and dyno and Im pretty sure doesnt come near 850$ all together

your best bet for now is to just reset the ECU and should help a bit

Go get a dyno at least ~$60 for 3 pulls and get AFR measured, you'd want a base line anyway. Even when they tune you'd want another baseline so it's good to have two to compare for accuracy. Optionally buy your own OBDII scanner, handy to have and they aren't expensive. I beleive Osiris could be used for this since you'll eventually be getting a tune right. Tunes can run $450-$650 on average. More time generally means better tune and more expense.

I've had my test pipes for almost a year now and no problems what so ever, I got a CEL once after a very long drive, i guess emission built up on the sensor, but i cleared it by resetting the ECU. No problems really.

thanks for the replies fellas! ^ good to know that you've been running your pipes for a year without major issues. maybe check your plugs? lol

i KNEW $850 was freaking steep! i believe they do a baseline as well, prior to the tune.
