More air to Injen? Or other Intake options?
More air to Injen? Or other Intake options?
Hey guys
I want to install an intake asap, however I do not want to finger print my car via the cutting/shaving involved with the Stillen Gen 3 install. The Injen intake seems to be the next best option, however from the looks of the location of the air filters, it seems they would be rather restricted? Is there a way to mod to deliver more air to the Injen Air Filter locations? Or is there a better, more hp intake that does not involve cutting/finger printing?

Got it thank you. I have been searching and reading the site and have really learned a lot. Only thing I need now is where to get the vents or how to make them. All of this terrible weather now has me concerned with hydrolocking.

injen cold airs are just as good. plus they the whp gain is throughout the entire power band, and not solely at higher revs. stillens have too much exposure for my taste. plus, the car can only suck in so much air at a time. it's not like more exposure = more air intake. that and i live in the nw (rain).

kyle millen from stillen emailed a very detailed explanation.
the short version is they use a 2 1/2 inch diamiter piping not (3inch cause to much turbulence indie the the throtle bodies)
by making the tube loner not wider, it creates a higher velocity of air flow taking advantage of the ram air built in by infiniti.(333 hp @ 60 mph)
stillen researched it & spent on ton on r&d.
injen may make some power down low, but I need it more when I'm wot.
fact stillen makes the most hp,why else by an intake for sound.?
Tube length
Risky Guy - I agree. That is why I am looking towards Injen long tubes instead of the Stillen long tubes. I can not do Stillen for 3 reasons; I bought an extended warranty and if you make cuts, that finger prints, and hence gives the dealer an excuse to void the warranty should something go wrong and I put the stock intake back on. The second reason is I simply am not good enough to do the Stillen install. I have experience with installs and have close friends that are mechanics, however after doing my homework it would seem that the Injen install is much easier and quicker than the Stillen. Last but not least, I think (tell me if I am wrong), most people that mod their car get the bug/fever. Once you work your way from modding your car from front to back, you look back to the intake...and the next step would be a turbo or supercharger... or twin turbo!

now that would be making a real Skyline!

stillem makes whp though the RPM range as well..

It's my independent dyno result on the Injen CAI. It does not restrict air flow. But you're more than welcome to open up the vents too.

The difference between Stillen & Injen is primarily install (both pretty easy) and location of air inlet. Personally I like the location of Stillen's inlet because it is higher and away from water sources down low where the Injen sits.
Go for personal preference and what you feel you will be most satisfied with.
