Def. a throatier growl and you really feel it around 4K rpm. Another thing, drove around 25 miles with them on and when I got home I popped the hood and felt the intake tubes and they were cool to the touch. So I'm def. Happy.
I get the same noise at about 6k. I was wondering if it is possible to add another bracket to the heat sheild to help stabilize better. Has anyone noticed the rubber on the heat shield peeling off? Mine started peeling a month ago.
Let me know if you hear some vibration around 5-6k at WOT... I had someone PM this morning asking if this is normal. Mine have done this same thing for about a year now, and I think it's quite normal and there has been no problem. You hardly notice it after a while... But let us know and congrats, they are great intakes.
That would be me!!!
It's not the R2C making the noise, it's the resonant frequency of the intake pipes causing a rattle in my dash/windshield area.
From 5.5k through 6.5K, and diminishes towards 7.5K. ONLY AT WOT.
Frwy on ramps are the only place I could test them lately!!!
Having the heater on, quiets it down some.
On the good side, along with the Hypertech tune, I am doing half throttle burnouts from a stop!! (No pwerbraking)
I have a 7AT!!
If I can get these shields to work I'll definitely post pics. First I need to get the shields sold separately!
I just took my car in for what I was sure was the windshield squeak. They told me it was actually the R2C intake rubbing against something in the engine bay. They put a foam cushion to stop the noise and covered it under warranty lol.
I used to get a squeak when ever I'd go over a bump and around 5-6k rpm and now it's gone. They just told me to adjust the height and distance to get it away from where it rubs and it should be good.
