All intakes do essentially the same thing. Go with what you like. The power increase will not be remarkably different, but intakes do add a little WHP. Stillen Gen3 has been reported to have the highest gains in the high RPM.

You should read this thread ... It will answer any questions you have.

So you think the 18hp gain reported by Stillen is false? Just asking, cause I am going to buy one in the next few days also...

I can't tell any difference. Let's be generous and say you get a 12 hp gain. 12/330 x 100 = 3.7% I don't think the butt dyno would notice that. Has Stillen posted before/after dynos?
Yeah, I can agree with that. I guess 18 over stock isn't gonna be dramatic by any means.

I'm still gonna buy one!

Hey, OP, another member has one up for sale, he PM'd me. PM me if you want the details. I think I'm opting for a new one.

I would caution a tune after the intake, as in general intakes will mess with your A/F ratio. Also you will get the most out of the mods.

I just installed mine tonight.. took 3 hours and I even had help. LIke most people say here, the install is a PITA. Its easier if you take the bumper off. I ended up scratching some parts of the pipe going in on the driver's side.

Now in terms of perfomance. I can't say that there's a huge gain but I can somewhat tell the difference. The VQ sound is just a tad bit louder. Power? I'd be lying if I said that I feel a huge butt dyno increase but the engine seems to be more "alive" and the pulling all the way to 7.5K rpm seems more "perkier"

Supposed to get mine over Xmas and install it with my brother. Looking forward to getting that done. Been debating the bumper removal so if anyone has insight, let me know. I know it is supposed to make things easier but what is the problem you face if you don't? I just know if I pull the bumper off I am really going to screw something up (or scratch it up!)

Love mine too. Go for it? Like they told me when I left Stillen after the install - When you hit the high end "Hold on!" You'll love them!

Good advice. Especially since I have exhaust as well.

I drove my '08 G37S 6m for 2 years with just a Tanabe exhaust which only made the car sound better but no performance gain that my butt could tell. Added the Injen CAI (that I had sitting in my closet for a year) and it was like getting a new car. It changed the sound of my Tanabe's and my G37S will roar at WOT. My butt CAN tell a difference but I can't quantify it. It's just quicker. Period. Put on some new shoes (Michelin A/S 245's and 275's on stock 19's) and I've quit looking at M3's and ISF's. Love my car.
NICE!

the Gen3 is the best intake IMO by far. sounds the best, looks the best, and most importantly it performs the best. it may not be much, but any more performance is worth it to me. especially after a tune. but I would wait to get a tune until you have intake, HFC, and CBE

If you don't remove the bumper, there's a high risk of scratching your pipe trying to angle it to get through the whole where the cutting of the plastic part is done. I had to bend the bumper just a bit (no damage or cracks after)

Thanks for the info

I got mine over Xmas and did the install with my brother. Took several hours and we did end up taking off the bumper. Some months before I got a Hypertech and I felt that probably made just as much difference as the intake did, with MUCH less work. However, the intake looks and sounds good. And there is some gains higher end, so I will just relax and enjoy it!

I would not touch anything Stillen makes.

I would only get the Injen if you don't drive your car in the rain. The stock intakes are very good at what they do.

If your going to replace your intake system do it the right way. Get a tune after wards.
