Help Installation with R2C Intake
Installation with R2C Intake
Hey everyone, so i jsut recently purchased the R2C intake and thinking bout installing it myself. Personally, i know nothing about cars and was wondering if anyone had installed it themselves. Are there any things that i should look out for when im installing it? Also, i heard that u should remove ur negative battery terminal when installing, it is really necessary? And will it affect anything if i dont? Thanks!
Read these threads https://www.myg37.com/forums/intake-...ir-intake.html and https://www.myg37.com/forums/intake-...xflow-cai.html to get an idea of what to expect when installing the intakes. Though some of the problems encountered there might have been fixed if they provide you with longer hoses. Other than that the installation was rather easy for a first timer like me.
Also, you should go ahead and remove the negative battery terminal, its real easy and takes seconds.

You don't really need to remove the negative terminal on your battery. It'll just take a little bit longer for your car to figure out it has an intake...
As far as installation, I echo what emyrl said. Just take your time, and you will be fine!

It's not necessary to remove the negative lead but it does two things, resets your ECU and makes sure you don't damage the MAF sensors disconnecting them. It's a real easy install, toughest part is getting the rather short crank case hose on the passenger side connected but it's not that hard. You'll have to reset your windows and reprogram radio stations if you do disconnect the battery... both easy to do. Also watch that you don't mount the heat shields too high or they'll cut into the hood liner.
So i just finished assembling the intake, but it happens to be missing all the rubber seals. Are they really important? From the instruction picture, its like used to cover that tiny hole right around the corner of both heat shields. I was wondering had that problem before?

Isn't that part supposed to be for one of the brackets that you screw to the bay? I don't quite remember though. And good thing you got long tubes, installation will be that much easier for you.
nah, i dont think so.. cuz like i already installed that L on the side of the heatshield to mount it on the engine bay. the hole is like at the back of the heatshield where i assembled the intake pipe and the heatshield together, which is kinda weirdd. Is it bad if the airbox leak air thru that little hole?
So today was my first time driving with the R2C intake, i gotta say its sounds extremely aggressive around 3.5k-4k RPM. At the end of the day, i tried to step on it and hear the intake, but instead i only hear the engine sound roaring again. When i popped the hood, the filters were really hot! I was just wondering if this is normal or is my heatshield too low for the hood to be sealed as an airbox when closed? Thanks!

i guess ill give it a try when it comes in!
