Any intakesworth it, that are safe for my X coupe? (driving in snow/rain etc)

Hey guys, picking up my G37X Coupe tomorrow... I am adding HFC to the car.. the ERZ I believe. (great price new).. I think all HFC fit all models so I am good with that.

Next, I know the stillen 3g intake is the 1 most people seem to say gets the biggest games.. that is a cold air intake though..

I am a bit worried, my X coupe will see all types of weather conditions and be driven year round.. don't want any water getting in, or something.. is this an issue or no?

If so, what are my options or are no good options worth the price without the hassle?

IMO the Stillen Gen3 is the way to go. There is nothing you have to worry about in terms of weather harming the engine, unless you submerge the front end of the car under water.

The only thing with the Gen3 is you have to cut some of the plastic the OEM intakes hook into in order to make room for the piping. If you don't want to deal with that, you can look at a SRI, like the Stillen Gen2 or I think Injen makes one as well.

GL choosing one and congrats on the new G!

Don't think you have anything to worry about if you go with either the Stillen gen 3 CAI or the Injen CAI.

hispeed has the Stillen, I have the Inje, and we can both tell you that having it in all around weather is no problem.

Thanks for the reply.. now which 1 to get? DO you wish you had the stillen after having the injen?

Is there a price difference?

I don't have any experience with Stillen so I can't really compare the 2 but I definitely do not regret getting the Injen. Still like them till this day.

For pricing, you can check with Lou@amplified, he's a reputable vendor on here with good prices.

+1 for Lou. He's your man if you need an intake. He'll take care of you big time.

Both the stillen and the injen look and sound great. Everyone who has stillen loves it and everyone who has the injen loves it (or at least 99% of people)

The gains are comparable on both so it really just comes down to what you like better. Listen to sound clips and look at pics of both and decide what suits you better

Seems as if you can;t go wrong with either.. are they priced the same?

Also, last question.. I have a long driveway.. sometimes I will drive the car out before it is plowed (obviously awd)... so since we have a car.. the car sometimes "plows" its own way out.. 8,10,15 inches of snow, etc.. so would drive this thing 50 feet or so in 10 inches of snow be a problem?

Found the injen for $429

. can't find the stillen anywhere

and $429 seems like a sick deal for it.

Just a FYI I think you have to remove the bumper for the injen install, you doing this yourself? The stillen will go in without bumper removal, 499.00 last time I ck'd

I won't be installing it myself.. will have someone or some place that knows what their doing, do it.

I thought the bumper had to come off for both?

I installed the Stillen on my own and didn't touch the bumper. It's super easy to install w/o removing the bumper and you can change the filters w/o removing the bumper also

I really don't think so. As long as you're not out the shoving snow up the piping of the intake I can't imagine it's any worse than some of the wx me and other CAI guys have seen.

Ok, i mean it doesnt happen often, but I will leave before plows come, and its a pretty darn long driveway.. since our cars are so low, it would plow itself if it is over the bumper portion -- didn't know if snow (water) would get really inside from the grill, under the car, etc.. and cause an issue

well yeah it can definitely get in but no more than when you are driving and it's pouring rain outside.
