Is it Dangerous to Drive without a Exhaust Gasket?

Hi again,

I had the FI SS Catback Oval Canister Exhuast installed today, but we were missing one 3-hole 2.5" gasket that goes AFTER the X pipe, on the drivers side.

The installer said it would be okay for temporary driving and he tightened it as much as possible.

Do you guys know if it is actually okay to drive like this? Or is the location i described (around the left rear wheel) dangerously close to the gas tank? In a well made system like FI's I'm just hoping that no-gasket wont create too hot of a leak directly onto anything important in that area.

Thanks,

Will

The gasket is actually meant to be a seal between 2 pipes. If no gasket, it means that there might be a leak.

I wanted to know if the area that Fast Intentions Intimidator connects at leaks, would it be a big problem. Also, how bad of a leak would it be if the 2 sections were hand tightened without gasket (visually no space seen between the 2 peices).

You might get a leak, but i doubt anything that would damage something.

your installer shouldve used that liquid gasket goo stuff.

Any decent exhaust installer should have gaskets on hand. If not you can buy them at pretty much any auto parts store, autozone, orileys, napa etc.

It's not dangerous and since there are no sensors behind that gasket then it shouldn't trip any CEL's however, it might affect the flow and sound a bit
