Y Pipe?

Sup everyone,
I got a Megan exhaust right now. I was thinking of getting a Y Pipe or just selling it. Would the Y pipe add volume + deepness or just deeper? And did anyone feel or had any gains in hp with the y pipe?
Thanks
JOhn

An aftermarket Y pipe will give a slightly deeper tone due to more air flow and will probably feel a little smoother on the middle to top end of the rpm band. The stock y pipes suck something horrible.

I'm running Motordyne XYZ pipe (3" tubing) with Berk HFCs and Tanabe Medallion. It sounds very aggressive, get a lot of complements on the sound. It's fairly loud, but I just drove it across the country and it has minimal drone at highway speed. However, I think the stock mid-pipe at 2.25" is an obvious restriction in this setup. I think that if I did it over again, I'd go with the Borla cat-back exhaust.

^Do you have any sound clips of that? I've got the tanabes with ichiba y pipe and am considering hfc's or TP's and am wondering how much it will change the sound. As far as the mid pipe i am considering buying some sebring tuning resonators and taking it to an exhaust shop and having them custom make a 2.5" mid pipe with the sebring resonators. I talked to a few places and got quoted around 150 or so for it.

Sounds like a deal Wake do it! Then give it sometime to break in, from there on you can decide if you want to go louder with cat replacement/delete

Im looking into a Y pipe but i have Berk HFC w/ stock mid pipe. From my understanding the inlet/exit diameter on the HFC is 60mm at Header / 60mm at Exit. The Ichiba Y-Pipe inlet diameter is 63mm (2.5") & exit diameter is 76mm (3.0").

Edit: Maybe i should just keep saving for a full cat-back.

I don't have a sound clip. The HFCs are gonna make it louder, no question. The first time I started it up after HFCs, I thought it was too loud, but after a day or so and a few compliments, I started to like it. Performance wise, I'd say any gains are @ 4K+ rpms. I have also been considering having an exhaust shop fab a mid-pipe but haven't gotten any quotes. What are sebring tuning resonators?

Sebring Tuning is who makes all the exhaust components Fast Intentions uses for their full exhausts and test pipes. They make anything from mufflers and tips to resonators and flex joints. If I do it i'll probably get their 14" stainless steel resonators that are 3.5" overall diameter with 2.5" inside diameter.
