People really seem to either:

... Just how important the filter is in an intake system. The filter is the one and only thing that is keeping crap out of your engine.

Sure, looks and sound are important... one company could have the best looking, best sounding intake in the world, and if it has crappy filtration capabilities, you will only end up hurting your engine in the long run.

But such is the way of car enthusiasts... everyone has their own priorities!

had an Injen intake on my Z... no gains at all on the butt dyno or any dyno I saw online... do any of you have dynos on YOUR car? I just don't see this engine ever making gains with intakes... Nissan has always tried to get the most out of the N/A at the factory...

but they look and sound badass!!

IMO I don't think you are able to hear them as much as a short ram intake since the Stillen intake is placed near the grill. But many short rams and even some long tube intake such as the Injen one would seem to amplify the sound since they sit closer to the cabin.

This is just my .02 though..

I dont understand why people insist on taking off the bumper, I didn't. I didn't even use a dremmel tool. I didnt leave ugly a$$ holes with any tool. My intakes dont hit the body of my vehicle. I'm sure you just have to fine tune the installation. As far as the open throttle, I can hear it just fine, I love my intakes.

You dont have to remove bumper, but you need to remove grill which is very easy
as far making the holes larger, you need to, the tubes will not fit through period. using a dremel with a cut off wheel, took all of 5 minutes per side. if you make the holes large enough, and take heater hose slice open, u can wrap the plastic where the tubes go through and nothing will rattle. also if you make the holes large enough, you will not have rubbing problems on the A/C lines, on the inner fender, etc. they fit perfect, but you need to do the prep first.
as for power, small gains in the dyno. Sounds deeper when full throttle. Looks, clean and shiny.

The driverside pipe rattles, but the pessenger pipe is fine.
Everyone has this problem?
If I shake the pipes, the driverside moves while the pessenger side doesn't move at all.
I tighten everything. When the engine is running, I can see the driverside pipe rattling while the pessenger pipe seems steady.

I had all these issues with my gen 3 on my car also.. I got tired of the poor looking fitment, annoying vibrating, and tedious filter cleaning.. So I sold em and got a nice short ram intake...

I had this happen...go to Home Depot, buy some of the felt w/ sticky backside that cost $3. put it in between the pipe and the metal. rattle gone
