Stock Exhaust Problem

So i took my car to the dealership today (sewell in dallas) because it was making this ticking sounds in the middle of the exhaust after like 15 - 20 mins of driving...The car was in Philly for the winter and the dealership said that the salt on the roads rusted up the heat shield or something; thats causing the ticking. They said it won't be covered under the warranty. Someone here posted something about this but i cudn't find the thread. What you guys think? This is bs. Been having so many exhaust problems. 2 muffler replaced and this ticking bs wtf!! HELP!!!

Call Infiniti consumer affairs, the heat shield shouldn't rust after one season tons of people on the east coast go through the same conditions and I bet they didn't have this problem

BS!

damn man sorry to hear that... but nice running into you today... and i say BS... they should replace it under warranty... try to fight it i guess it might be hard, but when i had brake squeak i argued and then they resurfaced my rotors under warranty.

your other option is to go aftermarket... not sure what you like but check out clips on youtube and whatnot... they don't do each exhaust 100% justice, but you get a better idea of what you want.

so infiniti consumer affair isnt really helping...they said they'll call me back. The ticking sound is getting worse and i don't want to get stuck with this f'ed up exhaust...i dont know what to say to them any suggestions. They said it was caused up the salt on the roads on the east coast during the winter season. Someone here had their exhaust replaced I remember but can't find the thread with similar problem...HELP!!

They might just be brushing you off? How old are you?

Don't think the rusting is normal, and the ticking should definitely be fixed. Same for the squeak when in reverse.

If they tell you that the squeak is there for all 37s and fx, I'd say "ok, let's go out to the lot, and show me on one of the G37s"

Do you hear the ticking noises even while idling while the car is still on, or only after u turn it off? Cause I have this too and they told me it was from the Y-Pipe. Would replacing the exhaust with a full catback aftermarket exhaust replace the heat shields too? Or would the stock heatshields stay on?

Idk man they told me that I could go with after market, but feel like spending the cash rite now. It is ticking when the car is in idle and def. when it is turned off for about 1 min..
