The Beast was unleashed

Last week I had my Greddy + Y-pipe installed, orig with the silencers on. There was a very distinct tone to it, nice low rumble and no rasp, however the higher up the rpms I went (past 2.5k) the car sounded very similar to stock.

So I removed the silencers after a few days, and WOW the thing is hella loud throughout the entire rpm band. At WOT it sounds phenomenal. However it can be a bit overpowering at times, for example when I’m cruising in 6th and I can still hear it within the cabin. Its def a head turner, ideally I would like to remain some what subtle.

I was wondering what peoples thoughts have been both with the silencer on and off? And generally after break in has the sound been altered at all? Thanks guys.

if you dont plan on using the silencers at all, you could always make the hole in them larger and see what it sounds like. With my silencer I just drilled 5 holes around the main hole which made it sound a lot better and did not choke it as much. But I like loud exhausts so I just didn't use em at all. If you just barely installed them, give it a few weeks you will get used to it. When you do get used to it and still don't like the sound, well... dont have a remedy for that one.

You should've done more hw man. Greddy is one of the loudest mufflers if not the loudest. It's like you're like buying a Mastergrade Hood and expecting it to fit perfect lol

Yeah I plan on leaving them off for a bit, see how it goes. Let it break-in a bit.

Don't get me wrong, its sounds awesome. I had looked at numerous exhaust set-ups extensively before I settled on the Greddy + Ichiba combo. I don’t think you can get anything better for the price point its set at and the sound it gives (Greddy)

What I wasn’t prepared for was just how drastic the sound diff is both with and without the silencers. Trying to get a feel for what others experiences have been with this.
