Question ?'s about custom mid pipe.

I've been looking into getting the JIC y pipe to go along with my Tanabe and most the reviews I've seen have been pretty positive. There still seems to be some debate about how the y pipe goes from 2.5" inlets to a 3" outlet back to the stock 2.25" midpipe, and in my case back to the 2.5" tanabe mufflers. Anyways, this got me thinking about have a custom mid pipe made since no one seems to be interested in making one for our G's. I was thinking if I got the y pipe i could have a shop fab up a mid pipe for me. Since the y pipe is a 3" out and my tanabe are 2.5" i was thinking I could do a mid pipe that was one 3" pipe in from the y that merges to two 2.5" pipes back to the tanabes. Having the merge be similar to how the y pipe goes from 2 2.5" pipes to one short 3" just reversed. To me this seems like it would be the best way to smooth out the airflow of the entire exhaust. But who knows i have no idea about designing exhuasts and could be completly wrong. Now if i did this i would want to keep some sort of resonator to keep down the in cabin drone and was looking into some magnaflow mufflers/resonators. Anyways i came across these http://store.summitracing.com/partde...part=MPE-14416. They come in polished and non polished stainless and they seem like they would be a pretty good replacement for the stock resonators, and i searched around and found a few people that have replaced them on thier g35s. Anyways i was just kinda thinking and came up with a few ideas and wanted to see what everyone though of this.

too bad for us I guess... I'm in the same boat as you, except I installed the motordyne xyz pipe already. At this point I am thinking I woulda been better off buying a cat back system, like borla, etc. except I wanted to hold down the noise.

Injen is making a midpipe. They'll be releasing it when they release their exhaust (not sure when exactly that will be though man)

^ That's actually a y-pipe.

The pipe that the y-pipe "Y's" into is the mid-pipe. The mid-pipe stops just after the rear differential

Sorry, I should have know better LOL - really for that who ever stated that they should buy the cat back system above, just do it. By the time you factor in cost for this part and others.....its a waste. Full Cat back with either an X or Y pipe FTW!!!
