g37 OEM y-pipe.

Hey guys,
Im new to the g37 site *member on the g35 tho* just wanted to know wat the deal with the oem y pipe on the 08 is? I hear so many people telling me they changed the design etc etc? anyone know anything about this? i just found out my megan y-pipe has a 3.0'' outlet and my stock midpipe has a 2.5 inlet.. so im tryna find a replacement for the y-pipe and so far the only aftermarket y-pipes that have a 2.5 outlet are the kinetix one and the hks. I was told the oem g37 is a not as restrictive as the oem g35 one. any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
-Rogue

The oem y pipe for the g37 is a whooping 1.75inch diameter. go to Exhaustdepot.com and you will see the difference.

The y pipe on these cars is so restrictive. I swapped mine out for an H pipe and the car woke up throughout the entire rpm band

Y pipes are one of those zero drawback mods. Barely increases the sound of the exhaust system but gives you some gains at the same time.

seems like the Y pipe basically defeats the idea of having dual exhaust. I just installed the Tanabe Medallion, but I want to go to a true dual exhaust design. I wonder what the options are that will retain the Tanabe? May seem like a naive/newby question but this seems like an obvious way to a significant performance gain. If nothing else I think I'll go to a local exhaust shop and have them design/install true dual exhaust with 2.5" pipe.
