Exhaust Depot Y-Pipe Review and Dyno
Let me start off by saying I am in no way shape or form affiliated with Exhaust depot. I am not sponsored by them, I do not do business with them between my shop and theirs. These Dyno results are not manipulated in anyway shape or form to benefit anyone. The purpose of me having this Y pipe installed and dynoed was to show real world gains or loses for the benefit of G37 owners considering this mod. Now that's out of the way lets get onto the results. my previous charted run was 267.26hp. that was completely bone stock. With the Y pipe the highest pull was 272.17. that's a peak gain of 4.91hp. now the highest gain throughout the curve was 13.4hp. Average was 10hp gained across the whole power curve. All in all I would say these are good results. But before we close the case there are a few things I must point out. One These runs were performed on different days with different weather conditions which change the numbers. that being said the weather influences extremely favored the original run which would mean the gains of the Y pipe would be higher given the climate be the same. The original run was performed at 7:50pm with an air temp of 86.43 degrees and 27% humidity. The Y pipe run was performed at 6:47pm with an air temp of 91.83 degrees and 36% humidity. with the air being much hotter and the humidity being higher the Y pipe run is going to suffer more hp loss. I cant be certain but just by normal dyno runs we do and temp changed I think given the same weather conditions as the original run 8-10 peak hp is obtainable and 15-20hp across the curve. Here are pics of the Original run and the Y pipe run. Hope this helps you guys make an informed decision and if you have any questions shoot.
Edit. For some reason i am not longer allowed attachments so i cant load up the dyno runs.... not sure who changed my limited but i cant post pics anymore

whoa 15-20 hp is a little too much dont you think for only a y pipe? haha. overall, it been a nice mod for someone who brought the axle back exhaust. now, i just need some money to spend on a system.
As I mentioned in the other thread and as indicated by UNV the power is apparently under the curve which means that you are getting some very nice mid range torque gains at te least. That should improve off the line results and result in improved 1/4 mile consistency. At a price of $250 that's a lot of bang for the buck for this car.
not 15-20 peak. 15-20 throughout the power curve. those are two different things. you need to understand how a power band works to understand what the difference is of peak hp and power curve hp

For upper exhausts parts (y-pipe) the fitment has to be good, and you need flex joints. The hook up diameter should be the same size to the midpipe.
Other than that it's just a matter of producing more flow with a larger diameter tube. From what I've seen y-pipes are a relatively simple mod- I have never read of any problems with any that have been produced for the previous gen coupe.

no testing. He made a first product but wasnt happy with the quality. made a second one which he was happy with and went on my car for dyno testing. So my pipe was the test one. thats why i agreed to let him install in it on my car. So i could do dyno runs for him
