So I talked to AEM regarding intakes yesterday..

They told me they had a couple of different G37's come in for intake testing, and during the first run they made about 5 whp on the dyno, thats cool, but after some more consecutive tests the gains seemed to be negated and starting dyno'ing back to stock power. Does anyone know if this is true? Is the ECU or whatever causes this really that stubborn and won't allow modifications to help boost power?

Sorry if this has been discussed, I've been thinking about this for a while and would like to have it cleared up. If this is true, does it also apply to other bolt ons like exhausts etc?

intake does not make any power. you buy it for the sound. you probably gain a couple but not much.

thats pretty much it..my car was one of the g37s used for testing. trust me, these guys tried just about anything and everything to show consistent gains..they said they didn't expect much without a modded ecu

thanks for the heads up, but does this apply to most every modification until we get a reflash?

Yeah sadly little by little this is proving itself very true. Same as the G35, just a noise maker or something that gives minimal gains with other mods.

You won't get any gains from intake alone, and if you do that's one hell of an intake. The ECUs that nissan uses in the Gs & Zs are pretty stubborn. For the car to take the mods to get any significant gain, we either need reflashes or custom tunes.

I'm guessing more along the lines of heat soak. Man I want the access port!
