If you get a Supercharger/Turbo, you still need the aftermarket exhaust and HFC's. Plus a handful of other parts + tuning. Buy parts that will one day compliment your forced induction if those are your ultimate plans.

I agree. But defiantly wouldn't have HFC on a FI system. But also I don't have emissions where I live and I somethimes forget about things like that. Build for the future. But on these motors headers are going to be small, even with FI. The factory manifold flow pretty well on this motor. And obviously turbo's are not going to have turbo manifolds. Unless single turbo. But I don't really see anyone going that route no more on this motor. That's another story in it's self.

Your stacking HP numbers a bit there, it doesn't usually work that way. I think that realistically a total gain of 15-18 HP would be all you can expect with a factory tune.

i disagree, with a hfc and exhaust, you are already around 18 hp. with the other things, you can get it up around that mark.

Me doing RICER math?!?!?!?!?!? LoL There is a dyno showed above that CATS and Headers add 17 HP but you say that realistically 15-18 for headers/exhaust/CATS/Intakes.. So intakes and exhaust = 1HP?

One thing you have to remember is that you cannot add up the supposed gains from each piece and voila... huge power gains. Some pieces work with each other and some take away. So your numbers are going to be less than you would think... or hope.

Why wouldn't you want HFC's w/ a turbo? I have always been under the impression that with a turbo engine the object is to decrease backpressure as much as possible. Unlike a NA engine. Are you speaking from purely an emmissions/smog point of view?

Of course no cat with a turbo set up would be optimal but I would say that if you needed to stay smog legal that a metal substrate as opposed to ceramic would be wise considering the fact that a FI setup runs very rich for saftey. The unburned (or still burning) fuel that exits the cylinder, thru the turbine and on to the cat can melt down a mortal cat under track duty. I've seen this a few times on aftermarket turbo applications.

Exactly, and one thing that is not being accounted for are fuel trims. You really have to come back after a few hundred miles and re-dyno for accurate results. 3,4,5 pulls on the dyno doesn't allow time for an accurate representation of true HP gains from a mod. My estimate of 15-18 honest hp was on the conservative (realistic) side, some may see 20hp. I highly doubt 25-30 would be obtainable with intake and exhaust without ecu tuning.

But hey, prove me wrong.
