Post Who here has experienced the infamous muffler rattle?

Please bear in mind that this does NOT mean the normal louder idling the exhaust makes on cold starts. I am referring to the specific muffler issue where it sounds like coins clanging in a metal tin! I am looking to see what proportion of G's are facing it and maybe narrowing it down to more prevalent with certain driving habits, transmission (5AT vs 6MT), build release, etc.

I had my muffler replaced and now the rattle is back again. It started out small and had been gettin gprogressively worst. Now that I have my HFCs it is more pronounced.

maybe someone can post up some clips of this terrible rattle? mine makes a louder/raspier noise when cold, but its yet to reach a point that I'd call it 'nasty'.

So is it replacing the muffler that fixes this?

Yes Max, I guess the muffler design is crap on the G. A lot of small parts that shake loose or something like that.

Mine's not so much of a rattle as araspy noise when i first start it in the cold. It goes right away after about 30sec. Not worth messin with the dealer

I have the same issue with my 5AT muffler and it's pretty consistant now days in the cold morning startup for about 30 seconds. But it also disappears after couple minutes of warm up but I'm getting worried now. I only have 3500 miles on my odometer and it's hard for me to believe that it's happening to my G.

cold starts its always going to be louder and raspier. its just the nature of our car. i think it has something to do with the piping heating up. nothing to worry about there. if you have a "rattle" then you need to get it fixed
