intercooler

I not the sharpest tool in the shed but has anyone thought of just an intercooler. Cold air is cols air and you cannot go wrong with the laws of thermo. I know you mostly do this to a turboed or supercharged engin but why not?

would not work. The reason being is an intercooler or aftercooler has air being forced through it i.e. forced induction. If the car had to just suck the air through the cooler on its on it would be so restricted it would never get enough air. If you want to cool the charge you can always install a dual dry shot of Nos directly into the intake tubes. You could put a 25 shot in each tube which would cool the charge of air into the motor.

It would be fun just to throw intercoolers in the car though

CAI is the NA equivalent to an intercooler. Idea is to get cold air from outside the engine bay (or at least further away from the heat sources inside the engine bay). Getting a cooler charge of air will help but as a previous poster said, you cant run the air charge through a restrictive intercooler without FI.
