DC/MD/VA G Owners: Tire Question

So this winter will be my first with my G. How many of you all drive/use your G in the winter, and did you use any special Tire/Wheel setup? I currently have the stock 19's with Bridgestone RE760s (summer tires). Do you guys have any suggestions as a cheap alternative to drive in the winter? Because I have the sport, I'm having trouble finding rims that will fit. Any suggestions will be helpful, thanks! My post is specific to DC/MD/VA people because they know the type of winter we have year to year, and maybe can recommend better since that is where the G will be.

Sport Edition A7/F10 off Tirerack will fit the car. I've only been here for a year and from what I heard from others, the winter is usually mild with a couple days of snow. However, I went ahead and got the winter tires since the summer tires will harden in colder temps and you wouldnt want to drive in those.

The tires came in really handy last year with the snowmageddon.

If you have no other mode of transportation during the winter, I would get the tires just for the peace of mind and safety of other motorists.

Is that the setup you are using? A7s? Which tires and size are you using? Did you get new TPMS sensors? Thanks for the info. This car is definitely my only mode of transportation. I suppose I could take my mom's minivan, but i'd rather not.

I'm using the A7 with Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 225/50R18 all around. I didnt get TPMS since it's only a couple months a year. I bought the LM-25 because they have great reviews and is cheaper (although discontinued) while the LM-60 have mixed reviews.

You might be able to get by with All-seasons if you dont need to drive much but a winter set would be much safer in my opinion.

This is my first winter with the G, and I don't plan to drive it unless it's a nice warm day out. Our other car is an 08 Ford Explorer, which will take care of our driving needs for the winter. My stock wheels will be going back on, and I'll be putting my Vossens in the shed.

I've been thinking about buying a beater, but we already have two cars and I don't think I want to bother with insuring a 3rd car for a few months out of the year.

Since you dont have the TPMS is the light just constantly on? I see that the Blizzaks are no longer available. I suppose I will end up going that route too unless I can secure a set of TPMS sensors somewhere for cheap. Thanks for the info. I will probably go with a winter set since I dont plan to use them in the summer since I have my stock rims.

Also, if I were to get TPMS sensors, would an TPMS sensor work? or would I need to get ones specific to the tire and/or rim?

Just get another set of stock TPMS sensors. You can reprogram it yourself with a paper clip and about 15 minutes of your time. Type in "TPMS for free" in the search, and the thread should pop right up.

yeah, that's what i'm thinking. It's probably going to cost nearly $1500 for everything I figure. But this will extend my tire life on both sets so it's not THAT bad a thing.
