My audio setup on my G37 re done for the 3rd time
We have changed my baffle board again for the free air setup to make it more show worthy. The first setup was a simple board bolted on the rear deck using MDF 3/4 INCH with some fiberglass resin to make sure there is no flex, then wrapped with white carbon fiber vinyl.
List of awesome equipment. SQ worth system but we just don't have time to try to compete
MOREL ELATE 3 WAY COMPONENT replaced the 3 way bose system
- all other bose speakers and factory amplifier was removed
ZAPCO DC REF 1000.4 bridged to power the Morel Elates 500w each side
ZAPCO DC REF. 750.2 bridge to power 2 10 inch IMAGE DYNAMICS IDQ V.4 wired in series
Here was the original setup from last year HIN
Both baffle board and amp covers wrapped in white carbon fiber vinyl

Here was the 2nd setup we had for SEMA 08. We changed the amp cover, made it smaller, added the MAGDEN COMPUTER and some blue LED LIGHTS

Here's the most recent setup. Basically changed the baffle board, made out of fiberglass and with the burch wood rings to make it lighter since they are lighter than MDF. Alot more work but it sure looks cleaner. Also, the subs are now facing the truck instead of the cabin. Sounds exactly the same as the old setup but it seem to me that i can adjust the base frequency a little lower for lower bass instead of the tight bass. Added brighter LED'S too. I will post more pictures of on how we made the new sub baffle fiberglass board.

Wow, never seen an infinite baffle done like that. How does it compare to having it the original way? Any plans on going with an active crossover in the future?
Lou, I'm not sure if you used Birch Plywood or some grade A birch (ie: Baltic Birch). If you plan on re-doing this again in the future, and if you used birch ply, look into Trupan. It is MUCH lighter than MDF, but has the same strength properties. I think it may also be called MDF Light, or something like that.
From the few infinite baffle setups I've heard, you would be surprised. Going with this route, the sub needs half the power you normally would. Low end frequency response is greatly improved. Setups like these can get quite loud if you want as well. I'd go this route, especially since I'm considering adding another 15" to my setup, but it's a PITA to seal off everything. If you don't seal back waves from front waves, it's going to result in cancellation and sound like poo. When done right, it saves space, weight, and sounds awesome.
