New G owner over from BMW

Hi folks,
Such a relief to find a forum for G's. I have been a BMW owner for the last 7 years and not even two weeks ago I traded my 03 330 ci and took delivery on a plat Graph 08 G37 s 6mt no nav ( just bought a tom tom a month previous). Great car, hard to keep from bouncing the needle off the limiter with only 415 miles on the clock. I look forward to surfing this forum and being a part of a growing community. BMW owners have a fierce forum for tech tips, diys etc... mostly because BMW's need repairs when mileage gets up there like CAB's, water pump, belts, regulators and the list goes on. There are differences in the two brands but we should be very happy as G owners. Believe it or not the new G and the 335i feel the same in terms of handling dynamics and the engines for both are a work of art. More low end grunt with the 335 but better mid/high range grunt and quicker 30 to 70 times in the G. The G out handles the 335 as well. And......a damn sexy car. Pics will follow as I just found this forum. I do have a question.......Anybody know if the are front splitters available for the G. Carbon fiber preferred. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum, congrats on the car, nice first post.

The G37 is a great car. I REALLY wanted a 335i, however the G37 won me and my wife over 100%. I wish our engines were as "tunable" as the 335's, however I wanted a car that would last, and from what I know from BMW owners and what I saw on the forums, I think the G37 will last better.

Welcome, this is one of the best G37 forums out there if not the best. Hope you like it. You have to appreciate both the G37 and the 335i and it sounds like you do. It can suck to be one sided.

Thanks for the response guys. The "tunable" aspect of the 335 is something 99.9% of owners will never exploit. Vishnu and a few other tuner companies are reprogramming a car that has durability issues with age. I know having had an e36 M3 and e46 330ci with mods and also doing all the maintenance myself after warranty. Again, great car and i was looking at it too but you never, ever buy the first year of a BMW. Now consider the 1st or 2nd year of a TWIN TURBO BMW. Case in point the oil temp issues and later oil cooler addition.

To answer the question by some posters, Northern Virgina and splitters are both cosmetic and functional aerodynamically. Attached to the front bumper they often come in carbon fiber or hard plastic. BMW has clubsport splitters or Mtec. I am sure given that the G just came out something will hit the market.

Nice to be here! Again thanks for the response!

welcome man. i too am one of many here who had to decide between the 335 and G37. you made a great choice. i hope youre right about the G37 being more reliable seeing how we're the first of this generation. but i have faith.
