RPL-san,

Now there is no need for name calling. We all understood what Gyoza-san meant by カコイ車.

And I guess I forget to tell everyone what I got for a car and options:

Type SP
6 Speed Manual
Bose
4WAS (included with Type SP)
Navi Package (which is leaps and bounds ahead of the unit in the old car)
Bluetooth for phone and iPod

I was excited about the bluetooth connectivity for the iPod, but am disappointed now that I have used it. I assumed that I would be able to control it through the navi as y'all can in the States, but the only funtions I get are to stop, start, and skip. Sound seems to be ok so far.

I think the reason it is offered here is because of the narrow streets that we constantly have to navigate. I probably won't ever use it other than showing people the cool option my car comes with. As I live in Nagoya the streets are pretty wide compared to the rest of Japan, but those poor souls in Tokyo and Osaka where they have some really narrow roads will want to use the camera to prevent road rash on their rims or front fenders. One other thing that is a big dealer add-on here are little poles that attach to the left front bumper. My old Z had one that was powered and with the touch of a button would raise and lower. Never used it, but the older crowd in Japan just loves that stuff, hence the mirror cam is an option on the Skyline and not the Fairlady Z.

In your car, is 1st gear to the left or to the right? ie is the transmission different than our left drive versions?

The shift pattern for the 6-speed is the same as in the US, just that I have to use my left hand and push up and to the left to access 1st gear. The pedals and everything are the same too. About the only thing that is different is that the blinkers (winkers in Japan) and wipers are on the opposite side of the steering wheel as to the US.
