Rumble in lower body
Rumble in lower body
There's a rumble - low frequency rattle - in the lower body of my 2012 G37. The rattle appears to be located in the frontal area below the firewall. The rumble is evident when traveling over irregular pavement - not bumps, but irregular pavement that creates a chatter in the suspension.
I've been to the Infiniti dealer 3 times over the last two years: I've replaced the stabilizer bar and bushings, front strut assemblies, rack and pinion. None of these fixes eliminated it. The dealer mechanic put microphones below the are and still could not identify it's source.
I've been to Midas 3 times: they maintain it's not the exhaust system hangers or heat shields. The Midas mechanic suggested that it might be something a body shop should look at - he thought it might be a "joint in the chassis frame area". He also suggested trying to get an Infiniti corporate technician to examine the car but it's a 2012 and way out of warranty.
I've spent over $6,000 trying to eliminate this rattle - It's driving me nuts trying to find it. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
