Water getting into vehicle

There is water/condensation by the steering column under the dashboard on driver side. I bought this vehicle a week or so ago, and the couple mornings I’ve driven it, I’ve come out to the whole interior windshield covered with condensation, and a wet floor mat. included is a picture of the metal around the steering column, obviously this has been going on a little while, but it’s not something I noticed in the late afternoon when I test drove, and bought the vehicle. I turned the AC on and I can see it draining out the passenger side, so I don’t think that’s the issue unless it should also be draining out the drivers side

AC only drains out the passenger-side.

Coupe/ sedan? Year?

It is probably the sunroof drain grommet that failed. Though, for the driver-side that is rare, but still possible. Could also be the harness firewall grommets, window seals, etc. This is a VERY common issue for these cars. Just search the forum and tons of posts and potential solutions will pop up. How you want to fix the issue is up to you. But, yes, judging from that rust, this has been a issue for a while with this car. Previously owner either ignored it or just dumped it into your lap.

Keep in mind that on the passenger-side, when the drain grommet fails, water can leak onto the sensitive electronic modules. This can cause a ton of issues and even brick the car. In other words, do not delay. Check your passenger-side as well and, if wet, address that as well.

As a side note, being you just bought the car, be aware of the other achilles heel these cars suffer: mainly the passenger-side plastic heater hose coupling (known to break without warning) and

It's a 2012 sedan. Where would that grommet be located?

Up under and behind the dash. Like I said, just search the forum or google and ALL of the info you need will be right there.
