hazard lights wont work, turn signals do

straight forward, not sure why but all of a sudden my hazard lights wont flash, but my turn signals work, my guess is a blown fuse, but checking out charts online i have no idea which one would be for the hazard lights / turn signal

any ideas, suggestions, or answers?

As far as I know, the hazard switch just grounds out one terminal of your BCM and the BCM generates the signal to all the corner lamps. So if your turn indicators are working then I would look into the actual hazard switch to see if it's somehow become disconnected. Have you been working behind that panel doing audio upgrades or anything?

I suspect a loose connection from the sub install...
The hazard switch is part of the "multifunction switch" module (the buttons under the LCD screen) which connects to the "A/V control unit".
The "A/V control unit" communicates with the BCM over the CAN bus network.

If they needed to access the back of the radio, they would need to unplug the "multifunction switch" and/or the "A/V control unit".
Also, since your turn signals work, it isn't a problem with a fuse.

Did they take the dash apart or just work in the trunk?

pretty sure only trunk they had no reason to access my dash the only thing i would suspect was from hiding cables/routing them. ill have to see if i can take a closer look, where should i start/ find where the connection is?

Then look for any loose connectors, like this one:

hey, not sure of you got it to work, but I've had the same issue....ever since I thought I would put a nexus 7 in etc lol and started unplugging battery and removing/ disconnecting radio and climate control cables to get back there ...so yeah, my aux and hazards and those buttons all stopped once...so bought a new/EBay console unit and it worked..but after more unplugging etc they went out again...it's just a couple or more of those lower row buttons...for some reason , disconnecting neg cable and disconnecting cable pictured above for a few secs , and then reconnecting so far has resolved my issues...ingot it to work the last time as my hazards would come on after turning car off and the Hazzard button didn't work...so disconnected etc and all working again...so something with initial battery surge is my best guess but no expert on these things... good luck

bump. i wonder if its a battery issue, or a whole center console issue. maybe the sub is outputting too much and its not enough for the simplest of a "hazard button" to not work

thread is TL/DR:
Did you try replacing the multi-function switch assembly, first? There are literally tons on eBay (search "G37 28395") for as low as $10 that include the ribbon cable. There have been several instances where buttons on this assembly would quit working so it is within the realm of reason yours went bad.

That said, the switch itself only sends a momentary ground signal to the BCM which then operates the hazard flashers:

(image from 2011 Coupe FSM/EXL p. 87)
In theory, you should be able to wire up a momentary SP/NO (Single Pole/Normally Open) switch between ground and pin #110 at the BCM to trigger the hazards.

If it were me I'd try swapping out the OEM switch first and see if that solves the problem. If not, then you could diagnose further or wire in your own setup.
