80k maintainance questions

Hey all,

I just passed 80k in my car and even though i have another 2500 left to go until my oil needs changed i was wondering if there is anything suggested. I go the the "stealership" for all my services as i have found they dont try and push anything unnecessary on me. That said i got the car a year and half ago...ish with 50k miles complete with its infinti service record, and now i am noticing that there were no major services on it.

As far as what i have done service wise, only cabin and air filter replacements, oil filter/ oil changes, tire replacements and rotations, front brake pads, and cleaning the mass air flow sensor.

I and recognizing that between when i got it and now i have heavily degraded mileage, usually have to fill up every 250 to 270 miles from a quarter tank, i used to be able to go about 300 to 350 before i had to fill up from a quarter tank, also im not sure if this relates but i definitely have an eshaust problem, no lights or errors showing but the more i drive it sounds like i have tin cans dragging on the ground, and sometimes the automatic transmission lags.

Any suggestions on what i should have serviced?

Might be too late for the tranny to be drained and filled. I had mine done at 50 and just now at 100k so I feel fine. As far as gas mileage, that does indeed sound abhorrent. I would know...I drive my car like I stole it and still get at least 300 miles range.

Failing O2 sensor(s) or cat(s) can cause loss of mileage but both should trigger a CEL.
Go ahead and have the trans fluid changed, but be sure to follow the recommended procedure. Do NOT allow anyone to power flush the trans.
The tin cans are the ubiquitous failing cat shrouds.
Read around this site, you'll learn a lot.

If you are in a rainy, high tree, high pollen area, I'd recommend addressing the defective sunroof drain design. It's something I wish I knew about and proactively addressed long before it before the issue became abundantly clear. If you live in the desert though, you may not wish to proactively take on such a bugger of a job.

P.s. they next time you get pads replaced, you may with to have then go ahead and change the break fluid at that time as well.

Change and refill the transmission fluid, don't worry because you're not late at all, but DO NOT flush your transmission system; just drain and refill. Then change the fluid in the rear diff and check if your rear diff bushing has gone bad or not, change the serpentine belt and check the tensioner as well (actually check all the pulleys). Check spark plugs and see if there is oil because the valve covers may go bad. Check for water-leak from the sunroof, and clean the body throttles (do not remove the sensors because they might mess up your idling).
