Question Recomendations for air filter?

I'm sure there is a thread with this answer but when I used the search feature it showed me 100's of unrelated posts...

I have a stock engine in my 2012 G37xS coupe. I want to change the air filters. I was looking at the K&N filters but they're like $60 each. Wanted to know if you guys suggest any brands or types I should go with? This is just for a direct replacement of the stock filters. I don't have open element filters or anything like that.

Thanks!

I have the K&N drop in air filters and they work great, if anything go with OEM. I bought a few air filters from other places and it was not the greatest at filtering. You can go on eBay and make offers on the K&N air filters and many are willing to go lower on it that’s what I did.

Whenever I'm unsure with what part or model number I need for my car, I check RockAuto. The site will help you determine which part you need as well as provide parts at differing performance/price levels. You can always just use the part number to search for better deals online. However, I don't think they sell re-usable filters, so no K&N.

Here is the link for your coupe - https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/....7l+v6,1503760

Hope this helps!

I’ve used OEM, Wix, and AFE Pro Dry S, before going Takeda. OEM is good, Wix is just as good but cheaper, AFE boasts that it improves air flow, like K&N, however it’s oilless so you just clean it periodically and put it back in. I’ve done K&N in my G35 years ago, not a fan of oiled filters. That’s why I went AFE, reputable but more expensive than Wix, however in the long run may save $. My Takeda intake also uses a similar dry filter. FWIW I’m selling my AFE drop in replacements in the classified section. Really it’s all preference and budget.
