Question 2010 Infiniti G37s Coupe Manual - 100k+ Suggested Routine Maintenance/Problems

Hello,

I recently crossed over 100k on my 2010 G37s. This is my only vehicle and it's a daily driver. I baby the hell out of this car, routine synthetic oil changes every 5k, throttle body cleanings, etc. The only thing that I had repaired/replaced was a new clutch slave cylinder at about 75k. I worry about the timing gasket issue and what to look for when/if it does start happening.

Can anyone suggest any high mileage maintenance for this car? Belts, fluids, etc?

Thank you,

Transmission, diff, coolant, spark plugs, serpentine belt, and check your suspension components for any rips on the boots, or rubbers dried out and cracked. You can find all the DYI on this forum, for a guide.

Great, I'll definitely get those fluids changed and check the suspension components next time I have it lifted. Now back to the timing gasket, I've read people needed it replaced at low mileage and some at over 130k. Is there a typical mile range that this fails or is it just random? Thank you.

Install an oil pressure gauge and keep an eye out on it.

Not much you can do when it goes. You can always do preventative maint and just get it done, along with water pump and new chains/guides, but that's big money unless you DIY.

What is the worst case scenario if I wait and let the water pump/timing gasket fail on there own?

the waterpump is very unlikely to fail. When the gasket goes the car should go into limp mode and the car won't be able maintain sufficient oil pressure anyways..you're gonna want to get it towed get the work done then...thats pretty much it...I may have missed it at some point, but I haven't heard of anyone having catastrophic failure that did damage to the car/engine b/c the gasket went probably b/c the car goes into limp mode to protect itself before then ...it just becomes an expensive/time consuming must do at that point.

Just stay on top of your routine maintenance and enjoy your car. I would perform the tasks as outlined above and not worry about the potential gasket issue. Yes, the gasket is made with a inferior material, and, yes, the gallery plate screws may be loose/torqued improperly, but this issue does not affect every engine. There are plenty of engines with 100k+ miles on them running just fine. If it happens, then you can address the issue.

Maintain the car and enjoy driving it!

Hey man, I have 117k on a 2013, and I drive the heck out of it from time to time. Zero issues other than wear and tear on tires and brakes, but the 2013s have some changes from previous years (from what I have read) that fixed some of the major and minor engines issues. Hopefully that front gasket was one.

Besides what has been said, check body trans diff bushings. On your next brake pad change check piston seals along with brake lines
