Cost CSC/CMC/clutch replacement/flywheel

Hi everyone,

The clutch slave cylinder in my g37 needs to be replaced. Had to tow the car to dealer which quoted $1100 to drop the transmisson and replace the csc. Was told $1300 for flywheel replacement and $975 for new clutch in case I wanted to get those done at the same time. Car has roughly 110k miles and I am the only owner. Going through some earlier posts, many members here suggest replacing the master cylinder as well ($416). If you can share some feedback on whether the costs are appropriate, that would be greatly appreciated. I plan on keeping this car for many more years. Thanks.

I don't own a 6MT G but the parts sound very high if they are using OEM. By comparison, you can get a stage 2 Exedy clutch for $1,300 and an Exedy flywheel for $680.

Labor seems about right though at $1,100 for any clutch job.

Another link to check out for a comparison:

I am in Maryland and facing this issue right now myself ( car is stuck in Allentown PA which is an added hastle of towing it somehow).. I was recommended to use the ZSpeed parts and go to Hills Garage in Pasadena MD .. RMB5190 do you have any recommended mechanic to do the repair? Costs around $1175 for CSC kit and flywheel and MC. 7 hours labor.

Hill's Garage has a great reputation to my knowledge but I've never used them. The shop I use (trust) is located in Westminster, right below Hanover, PA, called Francis Automotive Inc. They do transmission service and have been extremely reasonable and honest in my random visits to them. I'm in no way a regular but every time I've brought one of my cars to them they've been 100% with me or my wife. I'd give them a call and ask what they can do for you.

There's also a shop in Finksburg, MD that has a good reputation called Revolution Motor Works. I've yet to use them though.

As for towing, I'd look into Renting a truck (if you don't have one) and a trailer from Uhaul. It's what I had to do for my Volvo when the slave let out - cost around $100-150 total and your time but might save you some money vs towing 150+ miles.
