Help - Horn Honking When Parked (6 quick beeps in a sec)
Hi - new G37 Coupe owner here. Just started noticing that my car is occasionally letting out 6 really quick horn honks (in about a second) when it’s parked in the lot. No rhyme or reason to when it happens, just random. Sometimes during the day, sometimes in the middle of he might. I can hear it from inside. The key fob is hanging on the wall, so no pocket “butt dial” happening here with the key fob. Is it a warning? Battery replacement on key fob maybe? Looking for any suggestions before calling the dealer, or before my neighbor murders me.
Thanks for your reply! Yes, I have been sifting through the online owner's manual, trying to find anything I can think of that may explain the situation. I've looked in the index for these terms so far:
-Alarm
-Honk
-Horn
-Alert
-Warning
-Battery
I haven't found anything noteworthy to describe my issue yet.
I did just replace my key fob battery, just in case that has anything to do with it. Unfortunately, it's a little hard to know since I can't make it happen. I'll just have to keep my ears sharp to see if I continue to hear it. If I hear it again, I may just need to call and see if they have any knowledge of the issue. Trying to avoid any "exploratory service" if possible.

One other mention... I'm starting to consider the proximity of the key to the vehicle. My key hangs on the wall right near the door, and my car is usually parked very close to that wall. Maybe the car thinks the key was left in the vehicle because of how close it is? I"m talking like maybe 10 yards away, with a wall between. The other night, I suspected this after a few late night honks, and moved my key off the wall and into the other room....it was the last I heard it that night. Although, it was like 3AM, so I went back into a deep sleep, and may not have heard anything after it.
SOLVED (Sort of)
It’s not my car making the honk noises! I was out walking my dog, and the noise happened, and it came from the other side of the parking lot, confirming it was NOT my car. I suppose i jumped to conclusions since the horn sounds a lot like mine, and it was the likely variable since i just got it, and the noise started around the same time. Whew!
