HELP Automatic shift **** not locking in place, shifting into neutral (video)
So you know how normally it wont let you move the shift **** down or up without pressing the release button, well it seems to not be the case for Neutral and Drive. To get out of park and reverse it still stays locked untill you leave the button pressed and then push down to d. But from there, i can actually bump the shift **** up from drive to neutral without pressing the button. Seems that its not locking in place and if i accidentally bump the **** itll go into neutral while driving.

I couldve sworn this never happened before unless this is the first time i accidentally bumped it. Not knocking infiniti and nissan i love them. Do you know if its locks into d after you stwrtdriving at higher speeds?

This is normal for most auto cars, for example: if the brakes stop working, you can throw the gear into N right away (instead of leaving in D). Nothing to worry about. Gear shifter locks when moving from P to R or R to P. Would be nasty to accidentally slide the gear selector to R when you want to be in P.
I have gone from D to R before. Car DID NOT like that. Engine died. No damage though since the engine/transmission connection is hydraulic rather than mechanical. This was in a 1973 Olds Custom Cruiser, not my G.
