G37x Rattle/knocking sound

Having this issue with a rattle/knocking/pinging sound. been going on for a couple thousand miles, isn't getting any better or any worse. I've searched the forums but I can find one that's the same or with a solution. The rattle happens at idle to about 2200rpms and then it goes away. the video is pretty much right under the driver's side cat while I rev it to about 2k. The sound doesn't seem to be coming from under the hood, just under the engine, I can't even hear it under the hood. sounds like a popping/knocking sound. Does anyone have the same problem or know what it is and the solution? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lAK...ature=youtu.be (wait until the car is revved a little in the video, you will hear the sound quite easily)

I'm having this exact same problem. It makes the noise just above 5000 RPM (IDLE) to 2,500 RPM....

I'm thinking that it's either the Torque Converter, Flex-Plate, or one of those other issues that people mentioned, such as the Cat making noise, or the heat shield being loose and rattling.

Any ideas?

I have a slight rattle on my 13 G37x too, low rpm- coming to stop, leaving stop or slow turning, thinking it relates to the exhaust. Maybe bad catalytic converter but also read it could be a rusted heat shield around the catalytic converter.

Well, I went to the my mechanic (who is a god-send) to get my oil changed, and he said that my BANK 2 Cat was shot. He is a god-send because he mentioned that our cars have 8 year, 80,000 mile Federal Emission Warranty; which, means that my cat is being replaced free of charge! Going in tomorrow at 8AM to have it replaced.

ALL automobiles sold on the US have that emissions warranty. Federal mandate.

BANK 2 on my G was shot too. At least you're within the range for warranty!

Any idea if an aftermarket exhaust would void this warranty?

It will not. Your dealer may try to blame it on some failure but you have the Magneson-Moss act to back you up. The dealer has to prove your mod caused the failure. The exhaust won't affect emissions.
