Battery issue

I drive my car every other day during the week but every now and then, the battery is low or just completely dead. I went to have the battery and alternator checked and they were both ok. Anyone else have this issue?

Make sure your alternator and battery connections are tight.

Since I retired, I drive mine maybe twice per week. No starting problems though I'm on my second battery. It was replaced under warranty three years ago.

Test the battery cells yourself using a battery hydrometer to see if all 6 cells are at a full charge?

Then measure the voltage across the battery with the engine running to test the alternator output.

Isn't the G battery sealed? That precludes the hygrometer measurement.

Although I no longer have the OEM battery, our 09 had cells that could be accessed, and indeed needed to be topped off a couple times in the 4+ years we had it.

Did you ever inspect it on your vehicle?
My 06 G35 was not a sealed battery and neither is the battery in my current vehicle

I admit I looked at my battery only once and that was several years ago. Haven't needed to. Still, I would expect my luxury sport veheicle to have a sealed battery.

If a manufacturer can save x per car by using a standard battery vs sealed they will since they are producing 1000s of cars I paid 90 bucks for a new red top optima

I looked last week and sure enough, it's not a sealed battery. Color me dumbstruck.
