So leaving for work this morning everything was fine but I heard a pop and the steering wheel was instantly hard to turn the parking brake light came on along with the battery light.

I got the car back home checked for any codes nothing came up with my code reader. Car sounds fine starts fine but both lights are on and I could barely turn the wheel.

Didn't have time to check anything else without being late for work so has anyone had a similar problem?

I did some looking with Google. Seems like the battery, alternator, or belt may be the culprit?

 

Sounds like a belt or something to do with it.

 

Found out this morning it's definitely the belt. A cat got under my car somehow and well it's dead now and that caused the belt to come off.

It needed to be changed anyway so I'll just mark that off my list of things to do.

 

Not sure how to respond to this with comic relief for an otherwise sad story, but if that cat had 9 lives it spent them all on a sacrifice worthy vehicle! Err.. yeah... I'll let others handle this!
