Power Steering Boot Damp

Hi,

Does anyone know what amount of leaking or dampness from the power steering system is acceptable by Infiniti's specifications?

Some additional background....

I have a 2010 G37x with 105k miles on it and the Infiniti Elite warranty to 108k miles. I've always had my car serviced at the local Infiniti dealer since I bought it at 25k miles.

At 95k miles I replaced the tires (Tirerack) and for the first time had a independent shop have my car and install them. They did an overall inspection of the car as well and said there was rear differential drip leak and seeping from the power steering.

With the new tires, I took the car to Infiniti for alignment and oil change and notified them of the 2 leaks. They saw and replaced the rear diff seal but said there was nothing found on the power steering system.

At the next service for oil and tire rotation I took the tire installers paperwork with me and showed it to them and asked that they confirm there isn't an issue with the power steering. They came back and said there is a very minor seep but it is within Infiniti's allowable limit. I also notified them that I was hearing a noise/groan from the front end. They reported that everything with the front end was good.

At 102k miles I tried to sell the car privately and the prospective buyer took it to his mechanic before buying. His mechanic look at it and he said there was a minor leak in the power steering and a bad wheel bearing; the guy didn't buy the car.

At 105k miles I took it back to Infiniti for oil and tire rotation and provided them the detail on the buyers inspection and asked them to look at the front end for a bad wheel bearing as well as the power steering leak.

Now they said they found a bad wheel bearing and replaced it. However, for the power steering when I spoke with him on the phone he said that the rubber was damp but it was within Infiniti's allowable tolerance. On the service paperwork they noted verbatim...

"Diag Inspected. Found minor dampness near passenger side boot; no leaks detected, no fluid loss. Customer advised. No leaks detected at this time."

I feel like it's a closed system and any dampness/drips/etc indicate an issue with a seal or fitting somewhere.

I don't want the warranty to expire and then end up paying $1500+ to have the power steering replaced and I feel like the "no leaks found at this time" leave the door open. I also feel like I sound like con artist if I try to sell my car and they find the wet boot and I just say "Oh, no don't worry about that. It's perfectly within Infiniti's limits. No problem there."

So...after that long drawn out story...does it make sense that Infiniti would have a allowable amount of leak/seep to make the boot damp?

Thanks for any input.
