Trunk Open Alert Question

Trunk Open Alert Question

I just got my rear end fixed after accident...

Can ya tell me if ur car has an alert when u hit trunk release switch under the steering wheel?? The alert is by the speedometer.

It will only alert me if it is fully up open

It won't alert you until you actually open it. When you hit the button, it puts it into like a semi-locked position, another few inches open is when the light comes on. If you hit the button and drive around, the light will flicker on and off as the trunk bounces up and down.

Cool. Thanks for the info.

Hmmm... i thought it would alert me before when i had push the trunk switch from the inside. guess my memory is shot

Sounds like there is a sensor/switch in the system. Mine gives the dash alert as soon as the trunk is popped via dash switch or key fob. Maybe others will chime in but it sounds like your memory serves you correct. Mine is a '12 model.

thanks for the confirmation. yeah, i thought it would alert me once the switch was press. i think mines is not lifting up or high enough but at least it is open.

So had some time today & took car back to body shop that did the repair. They adjusted the latch thingy & all is working normal. Trunk alert comes on when pressing trunk release switch + trunk is easier to open since it is lifted up a lil higher.

Mine as well... once I press the trunk open button the alert comes on right away.
