Cruise control does not set

I have a 2010 g37x coupe, just realized when i try to set cruise it doesn't work. The cruise light is on and shows in the dash but when I try to set I just end up losing speed.
Have checked google and found some things saying to turn wipers off while setting and/or pull the break pedal up with your foot before hand. Neither work.
I tried it once more today and something happened I've never seen before, turned car on, turned cruise on, and pulled out. Heard a beep and there was something that looked like an arrow on the dash screen and disappeared when I accelerated over 40km/h. I'm guessing it's some time of sensor that tells you to accelerate past a certain speed before setting cruise speed?
Anyway, anyone else have this issue or might have an idea to help?
Thx

Have you read your owners manual?

http://www.infinitiusa.com/content/d...-G37-Coupe.pdf

See page 5-019

CRUISE CONTROL OPERATIONS
The cruise control allows driving at a speed
between 25 to 89 MPH (40 to 144 km/h) without
keeping your foot on the accelerator pedal

Yes I have read the manual, i have followed it and it doesn't seem to work.
It also says the "SET" light will turn on in the dash but I have never seen it turn on, I flick the switch to "COAST/SET" with my foot on the gas and nothing happens

This may sound silly, but are you hitting the on/off button before hitting SET?

Manual transmission? If so, there is a clutch switch which disengages the system just like the brake light switch does. Try pulling back on the clutch with your toe and see if the cruise will set.
Otherwise, service manuals here:
Index of /FSM/G37/Coupe/2010
"CCS.pdf" is for the cruise control.

I have been having the exact same problem the last few weeks, glad I came across this thread. I will give the clutch pedal idea a try to see if that helps. in my case, yes I hit the on/off button first lol, dash light shows CC is on, it just will not let me push down on switch to "set" it at certain speed. I just kept trying over and over until maybe the 7th time of hitting set, it actually locked me in at that speed. I was wondering if it was a possible electrical issue, but since it eventually worked (and does on occasion) I assumed it was something else.

Did you ever find a solution for this? I have this issue, no manual tranny. The CC never worked since I bought it, didn't realize it till a month or two later when it was too late to bring back to dealer.

I have read manual, watched videos, and even had other G37 owners try it to verify it just never "sets"

Any help is much appreciated!

If your windshield wipers are on use of cruise control is defeated.

It's a surprisingly complicated system. In addition to the front wipers disabling it (I never knew that) it won't operate if "snow mode" is switched on, or if VDC is turned off. If you have the "Intelligent Cruise Control" it's further complicated by a forward facing laser attempting to measure the distance to the car ahead (which can't operate when driving straight into the sun) etc... So many things that could cause malfunction that fault tracing would be a bear... It's all in the Service Manuals if you have the patients...

Thank you, ill look into it... I do know the car was in a fender bender in the front driver side, so maybe they didn't fix it or the sensors correctly. Time to follow that guide and try all my options!

I can say that my cruise works both with snow mode on and with vdc off.

Huh... Maybe depends on the year? Or whether it's the "Intelligent" or, um, "normal" cruise control?
This is what the service manual linked above for the 2010 coupe claims:

Cancel Conditions
1. When CANCEL switch is pressed.
2. When brake pedal is depressed.
3. When clutch pedal is depressed. (M/T models)
4. When the selector lever is not in the “D”, “DS” position or manual mode. (A/T models)
5. When the shift **** is shifted in the neutral position. (M/T models)
6. When the vehicle speed falls below approximately 32 km/h (20 MPH).
7. When the front wipers are operating at LO or HI.
8. When the snow mode switch is turned ON.
9. When ABS or VDC (including the TCS) operates.
10. When the MAIN switch is turned OFF.
11. When a wheel slips.
12. When driving into a strong light (i.e., sunlight).
13. When the VDC is turned OFF.
14. When the system malfunction occurs.
