Homelink Programming Without Garage Door Opener Remote?? Smart Learn Button
I lost my garage door opener remote & having no luck in programming my homelink via the "Smart" "Learn" button.
I clear the memory.
I tried pressing the button on the mirror 2 secs for 3 times after hitting the learn button as the manual stated. "press/hold/release" but no luck.
I tried pressing the button on the mirror & holding it for 90 secs and/or more after hitting the learn button but no luck.
2010 G37: craftsman garage door opener (5/98)
Thanks in advance

I believe you need to have one working remote to "teach" the Homelink unit what kind of signal to emulate, so you'll probably need to buy one. They're not very expensive but obviously it needs to be compatible with your opener / brand and model number. Then go through the steps, use the remote to teach the Homelink, then teach the opener to listen for the Homelink...

thanks for the input..
upon further researching, it appears the "smart" "learn" is to program the garage remote control.
in summary: in order to program the homelink, a garage remote control is required.

I didn't need one to program my door? The unit had a learn button for programming on the back of it. I had to push that & then run to the car within 2 minutes & program the homelink. It treats the homelink as a remote.

Just want to clarify that you DO NOT need a remote to program homelink. You can use the "learn" button that's located on the door opener itself. Most people fail to follow the "rolling codes" procedure that can be found on various Youtube videos. Most Craftsman door openers, (rebranded Chamberland/Liftmaster) have rolling codes.
