I'm going to take this thread in with me to the dealer and show that it is a common issue. They say they have not seen the issue at all before, or they are just playing dumb.

Most dealerships love playing dumb, anything to avoid wasting labour costs in diagnosing a potentially messy problem if they consider it just an inconvience to you like rough idling. They figure you will just give up complaining and they will be off the hook and many consumers do just that.

Or they will try and find a temporary solution to buy time until the warranty expires like cleaning the throttle bodies instead of replacing them and say it's just a fluke they got this dirty and don't expect it to happen again. That's why you make sure they note your concern on your account so they can't say much if it happens again out of warranty if you wanted them replaced originally and they didn't do it.

Check out the EC section of the FSM. This is how you reset your idle. This is a common issue with infiniti and nissan. On my wife's Murano '03 it would happen when we disconnected the batter for extended periods.

Did the procedures for that car and it was fixed.

You may need to relearn
1) Idle Air Volume
2) accelerator pedal released position
3) throttle valve closed position

you can do it all without the consult tool

I don't buy the dirty throttle body dealership recommendation. I think that is a bogus procedure. Most likely they simply perform the reset procedure to fix the issue and then clean the TB to make the money.

Glad I saw this thread, my '11 vert has been doing the idle drop/almost stalling the last week or two. Totally random times, I wasn't sure what the dealer would say since the cel didn't come one. I'm scheduling a service soon for oil/filter and a tranny reflash so I'll have them check this as well.

throttle body cleaning is not recommended by nissan/infiniti

please do not clean your throttle bodies. the electronic throttle actuator on nissan vehicles are not meant to be cleaned. if you do clean it it will throw off base value of throttle actuator and it will affect idle speed and cause harsh downshift engagement when coming to complete stop. there is no factory service procedure for nissan electronic throttle actuators.
when a car is brought into the shop with rough idle/stalling complaint there may be a number of issues that would cause such problems other than defective throttle actuators. it is highly unlikely both throttle actuators taking a dump at such low mileage. other issues which may cause rough idle/stalling may be caused by defective crank sensor, rodent damage on wiring harness, vacuum leak at vacuum hoses or fittings, rodent damage on vacuum hoses. in addition if your "only" concern is "rough idle" you may want to check for a collapsed motor mount or a motor mount that is not being actuated.

I just experienced a rougher than normal initial startup this morning where I never previously had. The rpms actually jumped all over between 2500rpm and 1800 or so before normalizing.

Normally it will be high at startup and gradually settle down. This time the car started shaking quite a bit. It was strange.

On another board I have seen the ECM reset being suggested and/or Idle relearn procedure which I am not sure I trust myself to do.

Anyone know for sure?
