adaptive cruise does not detect vehicles

Hello,

I've noticed since it started snowing here that my ACC does not detect vehicles ahead of me. I can set the speed, and it will cruise fine, but it does not slow down or show the car indicator on the dash as I come up on someone.

It worked great until that point. I haven't looked that closely but I don't believe there's snow blocking the sensor.

Anyone have any quick reset tips or fixes? I'm hoping it's something super quick like the auto-up window fix I was just enlightened to

I remember once had a problem on a very sunny day, the glare from the sun was causing a problem.

Once it snows & that laser that control the icc maybe getting interference from the salt/slush covering the box.

Only once In a while it would not engage prior to having accident front bumper was damaged.

That bring me to a second question for you.
Or have you had any paintwork?
Once I had front bumper painted & they got some clear coat overspray on the outer lens.

In addition, my was installed on a slight angle so it would apply the brakes if a semi pulled on the side of me, or if I tried to pass one.
Scared the living crap out of me 1st time it happened.
The seatbelt almost chocked me to a point of I wanted to tap out.
Thought I was going to get chocked to death.

Once they re aligned & removed the overspray of clear coat, worked like day one.

Good luck with your icc, also make sue you don't disable the stability control.
Icc does not activate if asc is lit.

Hope this help, good luck .

Try cleaning the sensor very well. Sometimes it's that simple.

There may be an update out for it too, might be worth checking out. When I bought my G I used it and noticed it kind of operated kind of rough but after I took it to the dealership and asked them to update anything that needed to be updated it seems to be a lot more smooth. Also at night I've noticed that it takes a lot longer to detect the car in front of you, but seems to work better if that car has the reflectors in the bottom of their rear bumper.

But I would try to clean it first then if that doesn't work call the dealership and see if they have an update for the software that may help.

I gave it a thorough cleaning yesterday, it looked mildly dusty but I guess that was enough as it works again!
I doubt it will work for long, it's winter here and the roads are filthy.

of note: ICC also does not work when snow mode is on. It lets you turn the cruise system on, but when you try to set the cruise the DIC just blinks at you. not very intuitive, for a while I thought THAT was because there was snow over the sensor.

thanks for the advice everyone!

Yes because it's set for snow a slippery surface.

Correct me if I'm wrong, you can engage the manual cruise control not the icc if it flashes. ?
Set it without engaging the snow button, just for a couple of seconds on the highway.
Remember a Infared laser shining through a dirty lens cover, it cant pinpoint the lane.
I used to keep windex, with a microfiber cloth.
It always worked, just it's a pia if you want to use the icc.
Snow salt isn't the ideal environment.
