New Owner
New G37 owner with a question I'm sure gets asked again and again. I already think I know my answer from looking at some posts already, none the less...the dealer I purchased from made two statements I found hard to believe. First, only an Infiniti dealer can work on my vehicle for warranty purposes. He stated they could not even do an oil change. Second, he stated the oil 'had' to be changed every 3700 miles. I know see that it only needs it at that interval when driven under harsch conditions...which we don't. Not happy already and would like some argument to pose in my defense. Thanks in advance-
first statement I call BS, well depending on what type of work that needs to be done, and major mechanical stuff I take back to the dealer or they can jam you saying you broke the car yourself. OIL CHANGE? haha only at a infiniti dealer? tell the dude to go F himself, should have asked him where it says in the contract or fine print that oil changes can only be done at the dealer? Should have told him to call corporate to confirm that would have made him crap his pants. I did that once dealer never messed with me again. For 3700 oil changes it is recommend in the owners manual, I do it at those intervals so that is the only truthful thing the dude told you so far, well its actually 3750 miles..
Unless you do the oil changes yourself, the Infiniti dealer is very competitive in price with other oil change shops. My local dealership uses Mobil 1 oil/filter and charges $60.00 (5K miles change intervals with synthetic). $40.00 for dino oil (3750 mile change intervals)
I remember when I sold my Maxima for my first Infiniti. My Nissan dealer said he would be glad to service my new G35 but would be prevented from doing warranty work. And I guess that’s the bottom line on this topic.
If it is an Infiniti warranty what the dealer told you is not true. Follow what the manual recommends and go wherever you feel comfortable performing the service, including yourself. Just keep all the receipts.
And if the dealer is telling you this BS I would take it to another dealer for service and warranty work.
If they have the ***** to make boldfaced statements like this I can only imagine what other things they might embellish.

I appreciate all the responses. I've aleady contacted them. They made me aware that I have 60 days to cancel the maint plan. I'm still not happy they mislead me to begin with...but they are car salesmen...
