I think my dealer is taking me to the cleaners

My car G37S (black) 5.5 years old, 44K, and garage parked.

So I took my car in for service ($700) and here is what they told me.

Replace lower and upper radiator hose and clamp $550 (Found hose crusty)
Recommend fuel system flush $200
Power steering fluid exchange $120
Brake fluid exchange $120

Another grand that I don't have...

$550 for 2 hoses?

Fuel system flush? Theres enough detergent in todays fuel that its no longer needed.

Power steering fluid exchange, maybe at 100K

Brake fluid exchange, get your local garage to flush it for $50.

Was the KY Jelly was free??

I would do the power steering and brake fluid only if it were bled not exchange. Not necessary though.
The other two I would pass for reasons already mentioned.

Nope.

Time to find a different and more importantly, "honest" mechanic. I don't want to mention the dealership but I to live in California, specially the peninsula...

I waited till about 98k to do the first fuel system flush and it was well worth the money spent. I am also in Cali where the EPA additives wreak havoc on the fuel injectors.

44k miles is too early.

Brake fluid should be replaced every 2 years and their price seems consistent with what I have seen.

I replaced my power steering fluid for the first time at 96k miles.

Cannot comment on the hoses. I have 100k miles and have never replaced mine (still look new). If you have not changed the radiator fluid, that's another service you should do every 2 years.

I have never had any problems whatsoever with any of these components/systems.

Try the Infiniti Dealer down in San Jose (Beshoff) and in Pleasanton and see what they quote over the phone for the same services. I was really happy when Infiniti of Pleasanton when I lived in the Bay.

The power steering and brake fluid exchange are standard maintenance every 30K miles and that's the standard price they quote. I had mine done as a complimentary service when I bought my G used and it did make a slight difference in braking and the steering feel. However, I think it had more to do with getting trapped air out of the systems than the actual fluid exchange. I find it hard to believe that a modern hydraulic system is that finicky. I'm sure there are some 70's era trucks out there on the original power steering fluid that work like the day they were filled. The $550 upper/lower hose and clamp option sounds way fishy.

$550 for clamps and hoses? Yikes. All the other pricing seems consistent and may be advantageous to do by time not mileage.

I hate the dealer! I do all my own work but took my car in to have the transmission fluid change because it's not user serviceable or so they say. They gave me a laundry list of things that needed to be done most of which I had just done, brake fluid, power steering fluid, air filters most of which had been changed within the last 3000 miles. It was obvious they didn't even take the time to look. I just hope they actually changed my fluid while it was there...

Dealer plan vs infiniti plan

Look in your manual. It will tell you your service intervals split into a or b depending on what your conditions are. 550 for hoses is crazy.....
