Infiniti Dealer recommends Engine Oil Flush

I have a 08 g37s with 40k miles, the car is in for an oil change and the dealer told me they recommend me performing an engine oil flush/clean, and a fuel injector flush. I have always used high test gas, and always had my oil changes around 3750. I just read a couple of threads down that the fuel injector flush is BS, what do you guys think about the engine oil flush?

I've never heard of an engine oil flush before. Using top tier gasoline will keep you from needing an injector flush. I'd say no to both.

engine flush is a croc. if you have used quality oils at the regular intervals, as you suggested, you are fine.

i once had the dealer try to tell me that my fuel filter had to be replaced as part of a 30k service. i had just read the owner's manual, which clearly states the fuel filter is a non-service item. i think you can guess how the rest of that chat went...

do what the manufacturer's schedule requires, and have wear items replaced as they expire. do not take the dealer's word for anything without verifying against go-by info.

After reading what in "engine flush" is (thanks Deamon), I also agree its a "take advantage of the uneducated consumer" tactic used to make money. Use quality motor oils at recommended intervals and you'll be good.

I'd like to hear more about how this helps?

That is the dumbest analogy I have ever heard. And on top of that stupid analogy, you called the person stupid if they didn't understand it.

Just based on the above comment, you shouldn't be throwing stones.

I think that when you change the oil with a low quality, then run it for say 15 minutes, then drain and replace with a high quality oil, the idea is the newer oil removes sludge that may build up over time. I have also heard of doing this, but adding a can of oil flush(i think its just kerosene(sp)) to the oil before running it to help break up the sludge.

As someone said earlier, if you use high quality oil on a regular maintainence schedule, an oil flush is probably unnecessary.

It is good gets out all the old oil. Fuel injector cleaner is either a 10 dollar bottle of stuff they put in your gas and helps clean ur injecters or they manually remove them an clean them results in a better spray. Not sure what infiniti does they prolly take it out and clean it. But if u use good gas premium you should be alright espesially at that milage. Hope this helps.
If running oil through your engine and draining it removes sludge, why doesn't running oil for 5K miles and then draining it remove even more sludge? How does the oil remove the sludge? I thought removing the drain plug got the old oil out of the engine? Why does an engine with 40K have sludge when my engine with 82K does not?

I would not do either of the above, especially if there is nothing wrong with your car.
The only time I might consider it is if my injectors or engine were on the verge of failure because at that point I have nothing to lose.

Stay away from that dealer. That's scary they would recommend an engine flush on a car with 40k on it. Is there a ton of sludge? Even if you're using conventional 3.5-4k intervals are perfectly normal for this car.

Ive actually done engine flushes before (im an apprentice at toyota) but to recommend it at such low kms is BS, unless you forgot to change your oil for a year or have crazy sludge then i wouldn't recommend you going ahead with the flush, and as for what a flush is, there are other ways to do it, for example when i used to work at canadian tire we had a engine flush machine that literally sucked out every drop of oil in the engine and then the other way which is to pour crappy oil in, start the engine then let it flush the engine then drain it again then put new oil.

My comment was meant to be sarcastic...because yes, it was quite dumb
