Well its against the rules to post links to other forums directly, but there is a forum called "bob is the oil guy" and if you go and google it, along with other terms like "royal purple black stone analysis" you will read how the oil falls apart and contaminates very quickly. This has been documented by many people where they sent in there used oil for analysis with very disappointing results.

Royal Purple vs AMSOIL

Best oils to use are as follows, in ascending order; Motul, Redline, Amsoil, and Mobile 1.

The Motul Gear 300 actually has an unbelievably high VI and is great for our differentials.

I would not use anything other than the appropriate Matic fluid in the trans.

thank you for the link. i did notice however that it's a link to the amsoil website and that the clamis that amsoil made towards RP were most likely advertising tactics in retaliation for the comments RP made towards amsoil's products. I'm not saying you're wrong

so i did what you suggested and google'd "royal purple black stone analysis". i read one semi questionable analysis, but the numbers weren't off that far. i did read 3 other reviews that were positive, and one of those reviews actually had comments from blackstone stating that the sample was good and that there was nothing wrong with the oil, i guess you could call it, make up(?). now, i'm at work so i'm limited with the time i can spend searching for stuff, but from the few minutes that i spent i really couldn't find anything truely negative.

while i do realize that oil with degrade with certain driving conditions, i'm curious what RP that's new would do going up against the oils you mentioned.

now, with all the discussions in this thread, i dont' know if it would be worth me switching from penzoil ultra platinum to RP or even amsoil, M1, redline or Motul. i'm thinking that it probably wouldn't be worth it unless i start tracking my car......and that's not happening.

thanks for the info.

like I said I have my last two oil analysis reports from blackstone labs the mileage interval was 10k and they said the sample looked fine and I could go longer if I wanted, I've had no issues what so ever. To be honest I would love to take my engine apart and really see how the inside is since I've been using RP I guess that would be the true test, I'm glad i started using all the RP products

I Prefer the oem Nissan oil. If anything goes wrong your dealership won't void the warranty. If you use any other oils your dealership is going blame the oil for the cause

if its SAE certified it doesn't matter being SAE means its still under warranty and RP is SAE certified so that doesn't matter

That would force the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act, making Nissan do auto trans services for free.

The current 7AT fill is considered a lifetime fill that requires no changing....officially. As the Matic S is relatively new, other refiners/blenders have not claimed compatibility the last time I checked. I have seen ones say that their fluid could be used for Matic J applications.

RP ATF can replace Matic D/J/K.... But:

"Max ATF is NOT recommended for the following applications: Allison TES-389, DEXRON® VI, Ford Type F and MERCON® SP & LV, Honda DW-1, Hyundai SP-IV and NWS-9638, Kia SP-IV, JWS 3324, MAN 339 Z3, Mercedes Benz 236.8, 236.12, 236.14 & 236.15, Mitsubishi SP-IV and ATF J2, Nissan Matic-S, Saab 93-165-147, Shell M-1375.4 (ZF 6-Speed AT), Toyota WS (JWS 3324) and ZF TE-ML 14C. Max ATF is not recommended for use in any CVT or DCT applications."

Wha??? LOL As others have said please post some evidence.

MANY MANY race engines and other high performance cars use RP- with BETTER than OEM characteristics. My personal experience expands:

1993 Cobra with a built mexican block 306/HCI/procharger. Used RP in ALL fluids.
2003 Cobra w Bolt ons. 517rwhp. Used RP in all fluids.
2000 Mustang GT (Daughter's car) RP oil/diff/trans
2007 Durango (With known bad tranny issuers from factory BTW), Rear diff/transfer case/trans/engine. THIS platform smoothed out considerably after RP transformation.
2006 Saturn iOn2 (Son's car). RP oil/trans/diff.

Amazingly none have blown up.

My current ride is an 08G37Coup 5AT. I always try to replace anything on my vehicles, when they need it, with better-than OEM stuff, which is why I am researching RP fluids, which had NEVER failed me (certainly no foaming) on this board.

I appreciate all the comments. Keep em coming!

What are you laughing at? I already posted a list of the best oils to use. I was posting common knowledge that RoyalPurple sucks.

I can't believe the people here, you try and help them, yet they are utterly helpless.

IF Royal Purple was so damned great than;

Why isn't F1 using it?
Why isn't GT Cup, GT4, World Rally, or ANYBODY(no body cares about NASCAR) that does modern racing using it?
Why is it not a World Renowned brand by now?
Why hasn't a single OEM provider using it in there specialty cars?
Oh and why doesn't there real race oil contain any Ester Oil like a real race oil should have?

Because its GARBAGE, its about as good as any other generic semi-synth with a purple dye in it.

Go do your own research its a pure marketing gimmick; bob the oil guy has hundreds of oil analysis reports on the oil where its proven it does not withstand any real abuse, its sheers and contaminates, its CRAP for what you pay for. There are tonnes of real racing oils with real heritage and endurance testing around for the same cost of RP.

I'm sure it'll be fine in all your 40yr old tech american hillbilly v8s that you drive to the corner store, but don't go spewing misinformation about it being anything than other than crap.

Anyway, you've been warned, I'm ignoring the rest of this thread because there are obviously some devout koolaid drinking RP fans here that won't admit they've been duped.

oh and to answer your original question, the jatco re5r05a, that 5spd transmission you have, requires Matic-S, it is specifically formulated for use in the Jatco trans, there have not been any subsitution oils available for it yet, except for that Valvoline generic oil which is the only that claims it'll work fine in.

I track my car every weekend with fresh Matic-S every year, the oil itself is phenomenal. I would go with the OEM recommended Matic-S, and an oil cooler if you push the car. My trans is still strong.

Dimsler, no need to be so abrasive. You read the same BITOG that I do?

I personally prefer SOPUS products.
