I also notice on their site in Canada that they have an "N" version: EZ Oil Drain Valve from Fumoto Canada - Oil Changes Made Easy - Fleet Info They say it allows the oil to be drained away from the engine..
this thing is definitely nice to have if you DIY your own oil changes. it makes things a lot faster/cleaner

use a scissor lift. that is hands down the easiest way. if you can't/don't feel comfortable using a scissor lift, then use a drive on lift and raise the car that way

I use Rhino Ramps.
Amazon.com: Blitz Rhino Ramp 12000 Extreme: Automotive

I actually have the standard (Rhino Ramp 8000) version which works fine, but if I had to do it again I would have spent the extra $12 for the "extreme 12000" version just because of the wide tires.

Is the lift height adequate? it says it only lifts the car 6.5 inches. My car is probably only 2-3 inches off the ground. Is that going to be enough to slide under?

^ At that height, you'll get an overall clearance of about 9-10 inches. IMHO, that's adequate, but it depends on how big you are.

Btw, if you have epoxied garage floors, the rhino ramps will slide. The anti-slip pad they have underneath it is sorely inadequate.

It's high enough if you lay right on the pavement. It's not high enough to use a creeper.

You can keep your own records. Receipts for the oil and filter and a log of dates & mileage you did the change is sufficient.

It only cost me $43 for mobil 1 oil change at the dealership... (in canada). Basically the same price as a 5 litre jug anywhere so i just let the dealership change my oil.

I jack the car under the driver's door only.

That allows plenty of room to drop the flap. The oil drain plug is on the passenger side pointing right. Helps to drain better!!

Also a 5.28 Quart jug of oil is the exact amount needed, I use an extended filter.

Who says the bozo mechanic down the street can do a better job than you.
His invoices??

Naw, keep the store receipts, and write it down in your owners manual service section.

I just ordered the Fumoto Valve, when I installed it, does it initially require a crush washer...just want to be sure I pick one up if I need to when I buy the oil and filter.
