Cabin Filter @ 15K miles

I just replaced my cabin filter this weekend at the recommended 15K mile interval. The picture looks worse than it was but as you can see it was noticeably dirty. The procedure was straight forward as per the posted bulletin - I didn't even need it in front of me to do it. It looks like the 15K interval is reasonable.

Thanks for the photo!

Looks like one half of your cabin filter is getting most of the work. I wonder if BlackBetty's engine air filter trick would work:

At half an interval (7500 miles), blow off some of the dirt/dust with pressurized air and rotate the filter 180 degrees.

Haha crap is it 15K? I thought it was 30K. I'm just above that and I'm about to do mine.

yeah the service manual calls for every 15K and honestly unless you like in a clean room it needs it every 15K for sure (MAYBE even every 10K if you like in a super dirty/dusty area)

Meh, you're probably fine. Just breathing in more dust or making the A/C work harder. Perhaps you'll notice it runs a lot cooler or harder when you put a new one in if the old one looks fairly clogged. Or maybe it will smell nicer.

I sometimes can get about twice the recommended interval (3 months is what they say) from the one in my heat pump/ac at home with no noticeable difference in air quality or electric bills.

If you or a family member have asthma or allergies, it would be a good thing to keep up on it regularly. The pic he posted looked a bit dirty, but nothing horrific. I'm probably going to change mine every 12 months or 15K just because it's easy and cheap to DIY. If I had to drop $200 for a dealership to do it, I likely would extend that interval quite a bit.

I think I'm going to try the activated charcoal for the next one tho'.

I ordered the Wix 24479 cabin filter from RockAuto for $12.56.

I have allergies, so I'll probably alternate between 1) cleaning/rotating and 2) replacing my cabin air filter at 5K mile intervals.

I couldn't find any at NAPA unless they ordered it in. I ended up buying it off eBay.

09-10 Infiniti G37 Carbon Cabin Air Filter NEW Vent AC: eBay Motors (item 160429953917 end time May-23-10 2113 PDT)

It was basically free shipping after the Bing CB and eBay bucks.
